Baha´i Philosophy

This site has four goals.

First, this site aims at explicating the coherent philosophical world-view embedded in the Baha'i Writings.

It aims at explicating and exploring the philosophical statements and concepts embedded in the Writings of the Baha'i Faith, and particularly those of Baha'u'llah and Abdu'l-Bah·. Their statements cover a wide array of philosophical subjects including metaphysics and ontology, ethics, epistemology, philosophical psychology, philosophy of man, aesthetics, and social, legal and political philosophy.

Second, this site aims at exploring the relationships between the philosophical world-view embedded in the Baha'i Writings and the teachings of other world religions as well as various influential philosophies, such as postmodernism, existentialism and Marxism.

Third, this site includes applying and extending the philosophical views in the Writings to real-world situations and problems.

Fourth, this site conducts philosophical apologetics, i.e. it defends and/or augments the philosophical views embedded in the Baha'i Writings vis-à-vis rival world-view such as materialism, ethical relativism, pantheism, most forms of postmodernism as well as philosophical attacks by adherents of other religious belief systems.

Many, though not all, of the articles on this site have been published in the "Lights of Irfan" series which is a publication of the Irfan Colloquia www.irfancolloquia.org.
